この度、NADiff a/p/a/r/tでは、カナダ・トロントを拠点とする作家Eunice Luk（ユニス・ルック）が主宰するアートパブリッシャーSlow Editions（スロウ・エディションズ）の展示「Slow Editions Showcase」を開催いたします。
Slow Editionsは、アーティストであるEunice Luk（ユニス・ルック）によって設立されたインディペンデントパブリッシャーです。2014年以来、アーティストやミュージシャンとコラボレーションし、アートブックやアートマルチプルというフォーマットで数々の作品をリリースしてきました。トロント、バンクーバー、台北、東京、バーゼル、LA、ニューヨークなど様々な都市で、展示や音楽イベントのキュレーション、アートブックフェアへの参加を行っています。
本展では Alicia Nauta（アリシア・ナウタ）とユニス・ルックによるコラボレーションのシルクスクリーンプリントが壁に大きく展示され、カラフルなカップ、脚付きグラス、シードボックス、プレート、大皿など、ユニスによる陶芸作品の大規模なコレクションが並びます。Slow Editionsの最新のリリース作である小田原亜梨沙のアートブック『My Diary』、Miroqueのカセットテープ『Botanical Sunset』をはじめとする、アートブックやアートマルチプルも併せてご覧いただけます。
展示スペースでまず目に入るのが、アリシア・ナウタとユニス・ルックの過去8年のコラボレーションからセレクトされたシルクスクリーンプリントです。ユニスのドローイングをベースに、アリシアがコラージュしたこれらの作品では、要素の配置が考え抜かれ、カラフルな別世界が表現されています。
アートブック『My Diary』は、小田原亜梨沙が世界的なパンデミックの中、2020年9月23日から2021年1月24日にかけて制作したドローイングシリーズで、「断片的な行動、はかない景色、白昼夢」が描かれています。58枚のドローイングを収録したフランス折りの手製本アーティストブックには、ささやかでおぼろげな世界が表現されています。
『Botanical Sunset』は、2001年に360°レコードからCDでリリースされた日本の電子音楽作曲家・ピアニストのMiroqueの作品を、20周年を記念してカセットでリイシューしたものです。シンセサイザーによる浮遊感のある作曲と色彩豊かなアレンジから美しい世界が浮かび上がるこの作品は、日本の環境音楽と現代のアンビエント・ミュージックをつなぐ重要なアルバムです。他にも、Sophy Naessよる特大のハンドキャストソープ作品や、楢崎萌々恵による遊び心のあるフォリオ版プリント切手『Koyake』など注目のエディションが並びます。
また、カラフルなカップ、花の形をした脚付きグラス、シードボックス、プレート、大皿など、ユニス・ルックのセラミック作品が大規模に展示されます。2019年に信楽・陶芸の森に滞在中、制作された彫刻作品「たまご6号」「りんご」「双子」は国内初の展示となります。共に陳列されているソフトスカルプチャー4点は、Jennifer Laflamme（ジェニファー・ラフラーム）が自然染色とペイントを施した布で制作した作品です。手縫いの繊細で柔らかなフォルムが特徴的なジェニファーのテキスタイルには、自然との交流を通して得た、記憶と精神が込められています。
1つ1つ丁寧に制作されたSlow Editionsの作り出す作品やマルチプルが多数ご覧いただける機会となります。ぜひ足をお運びください。

Eunice Luk｜ユニス・ルック
Eunice Lukはカナダのトロントを拠点とするビジュアルアーティストで、インスタレーション、彫刻、ペインティングや本の制作を実践している。Lukの作品はさまざまな文化や風景に見られる感情や共通点を探り、自然環境からインスピレーションを得て制作れており、作家自身は20年以上土を扱ってきた中で自身を、物質性を私的な言語へと変換する作家だと考えている。それぞれの作品を、時間をかけて形作り、描き、釉薬をかけ、最終的な外観を実現するために、焼成が複数回行われることもある。その結果、作品に感情と表現が染み込み、鑑賞者をやさしく豊かな詩の世界へと誘う。これまでにカナダ大使館高円宮ギャラリー（東京）、The Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre（バンフ、カナダ）、Printed Matter（ニューヨーク）、および Critical Distance（トロント、カナダ）で展覧会を開催。また、アーティストの本やマルチプルのアート出版Slow Editionsを主宰。

Slow Editions Showcase at NADiff a/p/a/r/t, brings together silkscreen editions, artist books, artist multiples, and ceramics from the Canadian publisher. Slow Editions is an independent imprint created by artist, Eunice Luk. Since 2014, Slow Editions has collaborated with artists and musicians to realize artworks in the form of artist books and multiples. We have held exhibitions, curated performances, and participated in art book fairs in various cities including Toronto, Vancouver, Taipei, Tokyo, Basel, LA and New York.
Collaborative silkscreen prints by Alicia Nauta and Eunice Luk are prominently displayed on the wall. The silkscreen prints were created throughout the last 8 years, with the earliest dated to 2014, a year after Nauta and Luk’s initial collaboration. Thoughtfully arranged using Luk’s drawings and Alicia’s collages, colourful and new worlds are introduced in the collaborative works. Recent publishing projects, My Diary by Arisa Odawara and Botanical Sunset by Miroque are also available. In My Diary, Odawara depicts “fragmented behaviors, fleeting views, and daydream” in a series of drawings created between September 23rd, 2020 to January 24, 2021 amid the global pandemic. Odawara presents a whisical and dazed world with 58 drawings in the french-fold, hand bound artist book. Originally released on CD by Japanese label 360° Records in 2001, Botanical Sunset is the 20th anniversary re-issue on cassette by Japanese electronic composer-pianist Miroque. A strikingly beautiful world emerges from buoyant, enchanting compositions and colourful arrangements on the synthesizer. Miroque’s Botanical Sunset is a timeless masterpiece and an important electronic work that connects Japanese kankyo ongaku and contemporary ambient music. Other notable editions include an oversized hand-cast soap edition, παρρησία by Sophy Naess, a playful printed stamps in folio, Koyake by Momoe Narazaki.
A large collection of Eunice Luk’s ceramic works are shown at the Slow Editions Showcase including cups, stemwares, seed boxes, plates, platters and more. Sculptural works, Tamago No.6, Apple, and Twins made in Shigaraki during a residency at the the Ceramic Cultural Center/Tougei no Mori in 2019 are also exhibited for the first time in Japan. Nestled among the vessels are 4 specially selected soft sculptures created by Jennifer Laflamme using naturally dyed and painted fabrics. The delicate and soft forms are hand-sewn by Laflamme, whose textile works are vessels for our memories and spirit in collaboration with the natural world.
Artist Profile
Eunice Luk is a visual artist based in Toronto, Canada. Her practice utilizes installations, sculptures, paintings, and printed matter. Luk’s work explores sentiments and commonalities found across cultures and landscapes and draws inspiration from the natural environment. Having worked with clay for over two decades, Luk considers herself an artist transcending materiality into a personal language. She patiently shapes, paints and glazes each work individually. Sometimes firing works multiple times to achieve their final appearance. The result is imbued with emotions and expressions, inviting viewers to connect to a gentle and rich poetic world. Luk has held exhibitions at The Embassy of Canada Prince Takamado Gallery (Tokyo), The Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre (Banff), Printed Matter (New York City), and Critical Distance (Toronto). She is the proprietor of Slow Editions, an art publishing imprint of artist books and multiples.
